Main Stage A/V | Kumoricon 2021 - Portland, OR
Following the huge success of the laser shows in 2017 and 2018 Mixed-up Events was asked in 2021 to take over all A/V services for the main events hall of Kumoricon, Oregon’s largest Anime and Japanese pop culture festival.
A very limited budget (necessitated by the two years the convention couldn’t operate and low attendance from the pandemic) meant everything would need to be scaled down significantly. Despite this, Mixed-up Events improved the quality of the production so much one might not have noticed. Rear projection screens improved visibility during the day and made the lighting more dynamic at night, a carefully designed sound system made every spot in the huge 1000+ person room sound as good as the front, and unnecessary expensive lighting fixtures and control boards were replaced with much more capable modern options. The event ran so smoothly that Mixed-up Events was asked to take over the full A/V services in 2022 as well.
